Frequently Asked Questions We apologize for the technical problems we've had on this page recently. We've placed a temporary solution here to provide you with information you need. If your question isn't answered below, please use our contact form. BILLING/PAYMENTS Q: What payment methods do you accept? We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express when making payments online with PayPal. If you have a PayPal account and sign in, you can also use your checking account or PayPal balance to send payments. If you'd like to pay your bill in person, visit us inside Bookkeeping Solutions at 418 N Pennsylvania, Lawson MO. We accept cash and check in person. To mail payments, make your check/money order payable to:
PO Box 548 Lawson, MO 64062 Q: Why do you use PayPal? What are the advantages? The primary reason we decided to use PayPal was for the security of your personal information. They are a strong brand that people recognize. When you submit your account information with PayPal, they process the entire transaction on their side. That means we don't have to touch your sensitive banking information or spend our time keeping up on the latest security methods. They already have security processes in place and spend great efforts at maintaining the best practices for the banking industry's internet transaction policies. To put it simply, they handle the entire transaction and let us know when it's completed. ONLINE BACKUP Q: I've lost my security key. Can you send it to me? We keep a copy of your security key just for this reason. People lose things. But just sending it by email may allow for it to be seen by others on the internet or someone who may have gained access to your account with us or your email inbox. To ensure the security of your backed up files, we only allow for your security key to be recovered by way of the US Postal Service. We would be glad to mail it to you at no cost for the first occurence. After that, we do charge $0.50 for each additional recovery, which would appear as a charge on your account with us. Priority mailing is also available for an additional charge of $5.50. If you prefer, we've found that certified mail is available for a charge of $4, delivered just as quickly, and has the option of restricted delivery confirmation (an additional $4 for requiring a specific person's signature) to ensure you are the only individual who can receive your security key from us. Q: Why do you recommend a 16 letter/character security key? The strongest benefit for using a 16 character security key is that brute-force attacks (systematically trying to guess password combinations) are too time-consuming for even the most dedicated person to bother with. Using our randomly generated security keys, there are 21,559,177,407,076,402,401,757,871,041 combinations to try with a brute-force attack. That's nearly 21.6 octillion combinations. Even at 1 billion attempts per second, it would take 683.6 billion years to get through all possible combinations. This is how a strong key can protect you. Even if someone were to try to brute-force their way into your securely encrypted files, that part would be after breaking into your secured space on our servers, our hosting company actively monitors network activity 24/7/365 and would immediately take action to stop any such attack upon seeing repeated attempts to break in. Q: If a 16 letter/character security key is best, why do you only use six to protect my server space? Because our generated keys are case sensitive (containing both upper- and lower-case letters) as well as including numbers, six characters still allows for 107,918,163,081 possible combinations. If someone were to throw even one million requests at our server per second, it would cause such a sudden spike in use of the server's resources that they would be noticed within two minutes. (We usually have a few hundred per day). At one million requests per second it would still take a day and a half to get through all possible combinations. The reward for all that work: if you use our recommended software, SyncBackSE by 2BrightSparks, they'd find military-grade encrypted files. Besides, they'd need to know where to look for your files. A folder name is generated when you sign up for our service, which is specifically tied to your ftp sign in, that you never see, and we don't need to see, making for another fun guessing game for anyone looking to break in. We've put a great amount of consideration into our secure backup process, and to keeping your files safe. |
